In early October 2015, I noticed an ad for some polled Nigerian Dwarf doelings. On October 14, 2015, we brought home Eretria (and her full sister Amberle).
Eretria is a gorgeous buckskin Nigerian Dwarf doe. She has the cutest little face, and loves her hay! She always dives in with her whole head, like an ostrich, to get to the bottom where all the “good stuff” is.
Eretria has a very unique coat, which we especially noticed as she developed her winter fur. The hair along her back and behind her back legs has grown very long and fluffy. It is so funny when she gets excited – that back hair stands up straight and looks like she is sporting a weird sort of mohawk!
Eretria is an unregistered Nigerian Dwarf. Eretria is polled, has blue eyes, and also has the cutest wattles (just like her sister).
Eretria’s dam is a black and tan Sundgau, named Gem, with a registered dam (her pedigree is at Thistle Creek RJ Ruby Tuesday), and unregistered sire. Eretria’s sire is a registered Nigerian Dwarf goat. His pedigree is available at Taylorside’s Benson.
Eretria was named after the rover character in the Shannara series of books by Terry Brooks, which have always been Jeff’s favourite books and author. It was just recently made into a TV series (which of course made Jeff extremely happy)!
