Dreaming Goats Charlotte is a registered Lamancha (La Mancha) goat doe, who joined our farm in 2018.
We decided in 2018 to expand our goat breeds a bit, and started searching for Nubians and Lamanchas (La Manchas), as they are both larger dairy breeds with great milk properties (quality and quantity). Our goal is to breed them to our Nigerian Dwarf bucks, and start developing our own lines of Mini-Nubians and Mini-Lamanchas. We contacted Charlotte’s farm when they had advertised their Lamanchas for sale, and at the time they just had bucks. So we got on their list, however it was Pepper who we were originally purchasing.
A few days before we were supposed to pick up Pepper, we were informed that she had an extra “teat”, which is something most producers would not want in a dairy goat. Her owner was so nice about letting us know, even offering another goat in exchange for Pepper. However, we had grown very attached to Pepper, watching her grow up, so we of course still wanted to bring her home even though she wouldn’t be registered. In addition though, we brought home another Lamancha who we got to name Charlotte, who was being registered. Charlotte has a real “puppy-dog” type of personality. She loves to follow us around when we are doing chores, and sneaks out of their stall on a regular basis to check out what we’re doing in the rest of the barn.
If you haven’t seen this breed before, Lamanchas have very unique, tiny ears. They also have very sweet personalities, and are known for producing a very good quality and quantity of milk.
