I LOVE working in my garden. I know, that may sound strange to some of you, but it really is true (well, at least when the wind isn’t howling out there – then I don’t think it’s all that fun).
For me though, I spend so much of my time on the computer, working around the house, and taking care of the family, that gardening is really a stress release. There is nothing better than being out in the sunshine, watering all of the amazing things growing on the farm. In fact, every spring, we go on our regular garden walks, checking out every little area around the yard, looking at what new things are poking up out of the ground. Sounds lame, I know, but we have almost made it into a competition for “who noticed this first.” At least it’s exciting for us adults – the kids don’t seem to be quite as interested.
The garden here includes a bunch of different things – our cottage style garden flower bed in front of the house, our work-in-progress back yard, our raised bed “mostly-vegetable” garden (which includes a small greenhouse to help extend our growing season here on the mountain), and our rather large vegetable garden, which is our “catch-all” for the food we grow.
We’ve got some great ideas and tips on everything garden related…
